Notes about these pagesThe material displayed in these pages is sifted from 40 years of a wavering interest in photography. The years varied from ‘snap-happy-chappy’ through working in photographic labs, struggling with make-shift home darkrooms and through periods of ambivalence and distraction. Only in the last year have time and motivation combined to let me indulge a more fanatical approach to the technical and artistic details of the subject. The motives for presenting a diary of my ideas and work to the world and it’s mouse are not entirely altruistic. The process of self-evaluation is greatly enhanced by confronting others with one’s thoughts and efforts The beauty of the Internet is that there is no need to go searching for anyone who might NOT find your own interests utterly boring! Somehow the idea that someone, somewhere in the world, might be viewing my contribution critically forces me to evaluate things in a different light. It is as though there is suddenly a mirror reflecting not what I think of the work but what others might think. My reward comes from creating the site and looking in that mirror. This makes any actual feedback an extra bonus. So! You may peruse these pages, make of them what you will and go your way - I care not a jot but it would be nice to get a ‘HELLO’ so I know your shadow has passed here!
